Paso Robles Wine Trip! Page 2

Here is Lorri doing a little wine "tasting"

Friday morning we were raring to go and decided to head out west from town toward the area we would be visiting on Saturday but not to the same wineries. We were a little early - most of the tasting rooms don't open until 11 - so we made Mt. Olive Company our first stop and were pleasantly surprised by their extensive offerings of olives, oils, breads, herbs, produce, etc.

Wild Coyote http://www.wildcoyote.biz/ is sort of an interesting place. It's owned and run by a former architect who built the structures himself. He's also the winemaker, sculptor, designer, painter and aficionado of Native American culture. And, naturally, he was pouring in the tasting room. That's him in the middle photo. He makes pretty good wine too!

Thunderbolt Junction

We were struck (no pun!) by the similarity of the lightening bolt logo directional signs at this winery to the San Diego Chargers Bolt logo so we followed them to the tasting room where we sampled the local product and enjoyed a little conversation with one of the owners. I think these owners have taken over the Hidden Mountain Ranch operation and are getting organized to do their own production. http://www.thunderboltjunction.com/

Adalaida

We made a quick stop ant Adalaida http://www.adelaida.com/. We were looking for a place to have a picnic lunch and since they didn't have much in the way of outdoor ambiance, we forged on.

Norman

At Norman Vineyards http://www.normanvineyards.com/, we found what we were looking for: good wine and a nice open picnic area. We had a nice lunch and then headed back to town where we checked into our room at the Paso Robles Inn http://pasoroblesinn.com/.

Friday Night

We met our friends at the upstairs Cattlemen's Lounge at the PR Inn and ended up having dinner there too. It turned out that they were pouring very generous servings of  a Tobin James Zinfandel out of a large stainless steel keg at a very reasonable price so we couldn't think of a good reason to go anywhere else!

Here we are before dinner:
