Paso Robles Wine Trip! Page 4
Sunday, March 26
Another day of tasting was soon upon us. Skip and Josie headed south to Santa Barbara while Greg and Kelly headed home to San Diego leaving the task in Paso to John, Jan, Carol, Dan, Lorri and me.

As you can see we were up to the task.
Silver Horse
Silver Horse http://www.silverhorse.com/ opened at 10 and we were the first "customers". The wine press belonged to the winemaker's grandfather. It turned out to be a very nice day - weather-wise and every other wise too.
Locatelli
We stopped at Locatelli http://www.locatelliwinery.com/ next as we tried to work our way over to the west side (which never happened). Locatelli is a family owned and operated winery that offers some nice wines in a simple setting. We talked with the owner and tasted and bought a few bottles.
Pretty-Smith
The next stop, Pretty-Smith Winery http://www.prettysmith.com/ was mandatory since we were in the company of Dan and Carol SMITH, only one of which is pretty and it isn't Dan.
It turns out that Ms. Pretty married Mr. Smith and they bought this winery. Later Mr. and Mrs. Pretty-Smith got divorced and Mrs. Pretty took over the winery. She's turning out some very excellent wines in a picturesque setting. We chatted with Ms. Pretty as she poured our tastes and took advantage of the setting to have a nice picnic lunch on the deck. In the fourth photo you can see said Ms. Pretty hard at work rinsing a filtering (I think) machine.
Penman Springs
Just as we were leaving Pretty-Smith we got a call from John and Elizabeth, a couple we had met on Friday night, whose friend is selling a 10-acre property and house in the area where we happened to be. We went over and met them and looked at the property. The property part didn't work out but they advised us to visit Penman Springs http://www.penmansprings.com/ , saying it was one of their favorite wineries. So we did and it turned out to be one of ours too!
The wines were excellent and more reasonably priced than many of the others we had sampled.
Clautiere
This was Lorri's and my second visit to Clautiere http://www.clautiere.com/ and we enjoyed it as much as the first. Everyone gets a kick out of the wigs and hats and here are some of the photos we took.
Robert Hall
One final stop before heading back to the PR Inn. I guess I forgot to take photos here too! It must have something to do with being the last stop in a long day of wine-tasting.
So, here is a picture of Mr. Robert Hall himself:
Of course I had to copy it from their web
site http://www.roberthallwinery.com/
. but I don't think Robert would mind.
Sunday Night Dinner

Here we all are at Buona Tavola a little Italian place down the street from the PR Inn.
The next morning, Monday, we all headed south to San Diego with vehicles full of good wine and heads full of great memories. Let's do it again, friends!
