Williamsburg, VA
As I mentioned, we arrived at our destination, Williamsburg, VA, on October 4th, which happens to be my birthday. I just turned 39.
That was a Wednesday. Friday night we were joined by my daughter Debbie and her family, Mike, Malarie & Jake. They spent the weekend with us. We celebrated my birthday, we went to Yorktown and we hung out and survived ten inches of rain in one day, Saturday.
These are from Saturday night with Deb, Mike, the brothers Hill and Lorri.
The next day we had a birthday party for ME!
On Sunday we rode up the Colonial Parkway to Yorktown and visited the Battleground Visitors Center where Jake and Mal staged an impromptu skit that had something to do with shooting each others heads off with an old cannon.
Later, we hung out an played darts in the garage.
After the kids left, we spent most of our time in Williamsburg painting and otherwise fixing up and arranging improvements and remodeling for the Matoaka house. See Road Trip 6 - Page 3 for photos if you are interested.
We did, however manage to sneak into Colonial Williamsburg a couple times to soak up the Historical Ambiance. As it turns out, the weekend of October 14, Williamsburg was occupied by the Continental Army under George you-know-who (hint: not Bush) and French Regulars under Rochambeau. They were getting ready to head to Yorktown to see if they could trap the British there.

Three more hard-working soldiers, some provisions, the troops march off to Yorktown and victory!
