2014 Home

March 30, 2014, Downtown San Diego!

The Padres take on the number one team in baseball (in payroll!), the LA Dodgers!

We Checked into our room at the Gaslamp Hilton and this was our view. That's the Convention Center with the Marriott in the background

Another view from our room. Whoa! What is that? It was a beautiful afternoon in America's Finest City

We got started at the Padres Block Party where we filled our swag bags with lots of goodies, especially stuff from Harrah's Southern California Resort.

Sunglasses, bags, beach balls, sweat bands, etc.

Tom enjoyed his sunglasses

The scene at the Stingaree which Harrah's had taken over for the occasion. Thanks to Ryan for inviting us all and especially thanks for the drink tickets!

Yes, that's Lorri and I with the Garv, the guest of honor at Harrah's pre-game party.

What other player could make both Dodger and Padre fans happy?

No one but Steve Garvey!

The stands are starting to fill up

Taking the escalator up. And up, and more up...

A great view once we got there!

Lorri. Hey what happened to your earring?

The East Village skyline is filling up.

I thought they got a defective flag but Patty told me it was shaped like the US. Oh yeah? Well then where are Hawaii and Alaska?

Looking down our row.

Again

I guess that's a "V" for victory

Looking down our row the other way

Cheers Jenny!

We're up there somewhere. I can see Tommy.

I think Seth Smith is about to hit his game-tying pinch hit home run...

We Win! We Win! The homer, a two RBI knock by Denorfia and a lights out ninth by Houston Street did in the hated Dodgers.

OK that's a "W" for "Win"

It's always nice to beat the Dodgers since so many Dodger fans make their way down to Petco Park for the games.

The post-game refreshments were at Lou and Mickey's.

I think those two martini glasses in the foreground were mine. Judging by the way I felt the next day, I'm sure they were mine.

We look pretty well-behaved here but looks can be deceiving.

That's Kim's sister Lauren in the back left.

It was a great day, a great game and wonderful time with great friends, including Steve Garvey.

Go Padres!

The next morning we went for a walk along the harbor. That is our hotel taken from the steps of the Convention Center.

The Goodyear blimp heading back to LA.

View looking at the bay and the Marriott Marina from the Convention Center.
