I started hiking once a week or so as a lower impact alternative to jogging and I've become addicted to it. I love the solitude and the quiet and the gastronomic pleasure of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich washed down by a luke-warm Gatorade at the top of a local mountain on a sunny day. Recently somehow I discovered the sport/game of Geocaching which involves using a handheld GPS unit to track down and find "caches" previously hidden by other Geocachers. The location of caches are published at www.geocaching.com so check it out if you want to know more. Many of the caches are on mountaintops or along hiking trails. This fits in nicely with my hiking habit.
