Turtle Gorge Cache
GC18EA - November 15, 2001
It dawned a beautiful day, too beautiful for Lorri to go to Jazzercize, according to her. Jazzercize is held inside an ice skating rink; not my idea of where to spend a beautiful morning either. So, after making her beg and plead and promise to buy me lunch, I let her come with me to on this short hike. What a nice guy I am!
This Cache is located about 300 yards easterly I-15 between Scripps Poway Parkway and Poway Road. We parked at a side street off Sabre Springs Parkway, which is off Poway Road, and found the trail by going down some steps toward were the creek goes under a bridge. It turned out to be a 1.9 mile hike to the Cache from this point and a little shorter coming back because we took a shortcut along a maintenance road.
The trail winds around toward the freeway and then more or less parallels it heading south. This is the Cara Knott Bridge I think, and maybe the smaller bridge is the old 395 route. I don't know, just guessing.
Here we are at the Cache site. Lorri was able to spot it from the trail. We put it back in the same spot when we left but put a few more rocks on top to make it less visible from the trail below. It still should be easy to find.
This is the view looking up the canyon above the Cache.
The End!
