Cozumel

As soon as we left Miami, the weather started to turn nasty. The ship with all its stabilizers and modern anti-rocking and rolling devices was rocking and rolling anyway. The first stop was Playa de Carmen which I forgot to wake up for. We must not have stayed too long because when I rolled out of bed we were docked at Cozumel. It was cloudy and the wind was blowing at roughly 900 miles an hour. After careful consideration we decided not to go to the beach. We went to town instead and bought a shot glass, Cuban cigars and by that time were totally exhausted so we stopped for a couple beers before heading back to the barge.

Here we are on the pier with the ship (not a "boat" according to the Captain) in the background.

On the left you can see Lorri posing with Fidel Castro. I guess if we can't go to Cuba, this is the next best thing. After taking the photo, I felt obligated to go inside and purchase a couple Upmans. In the middle is Lorri on the side walk and on the right is the "beach" the street and the shops across the street. If you look carefully at the palm fronds, you can see the effect of the gale force winds.
