Jamaica no problem, mon.
The weather was starting to get a little better as we arrived in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, but it was still no beach day. We decided to relax and have breakfast and do a little shopping later. The ship was docked at a pier 3 or 4 miles out of town even though the main pier adjacent to town was empty. I suspect that was because the cabbies bribed the port officials so they could generate some revenue carting people back and forth to town.
This was the only place where we docked with the starboard side facing the dock. The above photos were taken from our stateroom balcony. You can see how picturesque the pier was. I don't know what all the equipment was used for but it sure was ugly! Looking the other direction, you can get an idea of the tropical lushness of the island.
Here we are at the Taj Majal shopping area with Michael and Monica, our new friends from Denver. Mike bought a ton of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, the girls bought some other stuff and I found a cart selling ice-cold Red Stripe lager, so we all were happy!
This is a shot of the island in the dusk as we pulled away headed for Aruba and better weather.
