The Trip Back

Leaving Monterey, we decided to head inland a little so we could see the sun again. We ended up at Lake San Antonio, which as everybody knows, is just north of Lake Nacimiento, not too far from Paso Robles. The weather was perfect, the place was deserted except for park rangers and wildlife. The top two photos show our camp site and the view from it.

The deer were very tame, roaming right up to our camp site on several occasions. I suspect that people feed them. I used the flash so their eyes are kind of bright. We also saw wild turkeys, magpies (remember Heckle and Jeckle?), vultures and PIGS!

We made one more stop on the way back: Balinger Off-road Vehicle Area in Los Padres National Forest. We were the only people there on Tuesday night. This is what it looked like.
