Leaving San Diego 8/27

As usual, our first stop after leaving San Diego was Las Vegas. How can you not stop there when heading north on I-15? We stayed at the Flamingo Hilton and lost a little money on video poker and won a little on the Padres 11-6 win over the Astros.

Actually our first stop was the Border Patrol check point on I-15, just south of Temecula. Here is what it looks like. Hopefully this photo won't set the tone for the excitement level of this trip.

Las Vegas 8/27

You can see the Flamingo somewhere in the photo on the left and there is Lorri standing around the pool on the right. We looked for the bartender that made the killer mai-tais last spring when we were here for the H&A golf tournament, but he was gone. Oh well...

Saw the wild pink stork and had to take a photo. There we are in the "photo spot" where everybody who visits the Flamingo is required to ask somebody else to take their photograph.

Somewhere near Park City, Utah, 8/28

We camped at Jordanelle State Park, just North of Heber City Utah, 450 miles, more or less, north of Las Vegas. Our site overlooked Jordanelle Lake. Although the camp sites are exposed to the sun and wind, the campground itself is excellent in terms of facilities and cleanliness. In the photo on the right you can see part of Deer Valley Ski Area in the background. We thought we would get rain there but it stayed to the east of us. We just got clouds and wind.
