Yellowstone National Park, 8/30
After leaving St. Anthony, we headed toward Yellowstone NP and then on to Cody, Wyoming, where we visited with our old friend Kristy Wheeler and her lovely daughter Kelly.
We stopped to see Old Faithful. And here it is.
This is the "Old Fishing Bridge" where fishing has been prohibited since 1974, due to too many fishermen and not enough fish. Today the fish are making a comeback and the fishermen are fishing elsewhere.
There are a lot of buffalo (or are they bison?) in Yellowstone. There are allegedly a lot of bears too, but we didn't see any. These buffalo photos were taken from the van. We would like to have spent more time in Yellowstone, but we wanted to get to the Kristy Ranch in Cody, which is named after a guy who killed a whole bunch of buffalo and got famous for doing it. It doesn't seem to me like it would be so difficult to kill a lot of buffalo. They make pretty big targets and don't move very fast.
Cody, Wyoming, and the Kristy Wheeler Ranch 8/30
We've known Kristy for 20 years or more. She recently retired from Hunsaker & Associates Irvine and moved to her dream town of Cody, Wyoming, where she bought some land where she built this barn/residence (does that sound right?) and plans to build an expansive ranch house in the not too distant future. Her daughter Kelly was there visiting for a couple weeks and so was her horse!

In the left is the entry gate to Kristy Ranch. Little Kelly can be seen heading out for a morning run. Here are couple views of the ranch.
Here are a couple views of the horses. Lorri says the one on the left is Kelly's but they all look alike to me (and smell alike).
We had a great time visiting with Kristy and Kelly and stayed long enough to watch the first quarter of the Penn State - Central Florida game. Then we got back on the road east. We found a place to watch the last quarter of the Penn State victory in a town called "Greybull" at the Smokehouse Saloon.
