Road Rally

The Road Rally was a "Poker Run" where the idea was to follow the hint sheet, figure out where you were going and then find the answer to all the questions which were related to items along the route. The rally started at Rally Headquarters in Kamas and took us to Cascade Falls, Sundance and Heber City, among other places. The scenery was spectacular! I wish my photos were. Here they are anyway.

Leaving cow country.

Turning toward Wasatch State Park. Duncan's van is a yellowish color, the only yellow Sportsmobile I've ever seen, and it is very photogenic and hard to lose sight of.

Stopping to ID some flowers.

Cascade Falls

Answer to the fish question. BROWN TROUT!!

The team is hot on the trail to find the temperature of the Cascade water.

The Falls?

There was evidence that another "team" was at the Falls (we saw their vans in the parking lot) and here we passed them on the trail. We told them the wrong water temperature and wrong answer to the fish question but I don't think they believed us.

After Cascade Falls it was up over the pass and down to Sundance. The road was skinny but paved and the vistas were plentiful.

At rustic Sundance we made a pit stop and found the answer to another question, "Ray's Lift" in the photo on the right.

This directional sign at Sundance pointed the way to all the important places, the screening room, Rehearsal Hall, Art Center, Restaurants, General Store, and of course, Los Angeles!

Scavenger Hunt!

In addition the the Road Rally/Poker Run there was a Scavenger Hunt that included such items as the Book of Mormon (hey, we were near Salt lake!), cowboy hat, Sportsmobile shot glass, old Rally T-shirts and pins, fortune cookies, dice, and so on. Most of the items were readily available or easy to acquire, but a few required some creativity. Fortunately, for our team, points were awarded for effort and imagination.

One of the requested items was a Baja Sportsmobile Rally hat which none of us had. I picked up a plain white hat at Wal-Mart, copied a few things from my Baja Rally T-shirt and, viola!, a Baja Rally Hat.
