Jack's Super Bowl Page

I know everyone has been waiting for Superstork's Super Bowl predictions, so here they are.

It's Rich Gannon and the Raiders offense vs. Warren Sapp and the Bucs defense.

I predict Warren Sapp (left) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will flatten Rich Gannon (right) and the rest of the wimpy Raiders from up north. The final score will be 37 to 10. I only wish that a few of those loud, unruly, beer-gutted, painted-faced Oakland fans could get on the field so Sapp could flatten them too. I'd like to see a field full of silver and black Raider pancakes.

Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Am I going to the game? Yeah, right. We got some steaks and some wine and we'll fire up the bbq and sit here in the comfort of our own home and watch the carnage. However, since the game IS here in sunny San Diego, Lorri and I made a trip downtown Friday afternoon to soak up some of the ambiance.

By the way, before I forget, the above graphics were ripped off  without permission, so don't tell them, OK?

Below are some photos that I took on Friday. Click on the thumbnails to see larger, more beautiful versions. If anyone from www.NFL.com wants to use them without my permission, go right ahead. Wait, that doesn't make sense. Nevermind.

This is the bay side of the Marriott just north of the Convention Center. You can see the Super Bowl logos and some fans sipping cocktails.

Another view of the Marriott with the Goodyear Blimp in the background. The sky was chock full of blimps, planes, helicopters, etc, all flying around on Friday probably because of the no-fly rules imposed on game day.

A view of a small portion of the NFL Experience just south of and behind the Convention Center. The line to get in was about four miles long and we nearly got stampeded by frenzied fans as they made a b-line from the trolley station to the entrance.

The half-finished "PetCo Park" is the future home of the Padres. The long horizontal red thing in front is the trolley.

There were at least nine million "officially licensed merchandise" stores and stands scattered about downtown, all of which were doing a brisk business. This one was in the Gaslamp on 5th Ave.

Speaking of the Gaslamp, here is a view up Fifth with one of the temporary Super Bowl signs. They look a lot better at night because they light up from inside. I saw them on TV.

Still speaking of the Gaslamp, here is one!

Parking is at a premium this week. Only $20 a spot! We parked at Horton Plaza and got free parking for 3 hours with our purchase of a loaf of sourdough.

Lastly, here is a nice-looking H2 Raider-mobile. I didn't see the driver but I bet it was one of those aforementioned pot-bellied, painted-face types. Ha!

Well, that's it for Stork's Super Bowl Page. I'll try to do better next year.
