For a brief trip summary, keep reading:
We flew from San Diego to Norfolk, VA, on November 29, rented a car and drove to Colonial Williamsburg, where we were to meet Jack's family at the world-famous Colonel Waller Hotel and Resort.
At Colonial Williamsburg, or "CW", as the in crowd calls it, or "Billville", as some others call it, we attended the Grand Illumination, had a birthday party for grandson Jake, who turned seven, and sister Mary who turned, well, OLD! We went to Williamsburg Winerey (yes they make wine in Virginia!) and we visited Carters Grove, a "plantation" on the James River near CW.
From CW we drove to daughter Debbie's place north of Baltimore where we stayed in a local B&B for two nights and then at Deb's for two nights. We visited Havre de Grace, the bustling tourist Mecca on the Chesapeake, the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, and later went Christmas tree cutting with the family.
From Baltimore we traveled south to Washington, D.C., where we stayed two nights at the Mayflower Hotel before heading back to San Diego from Baltimore/Washington International on December 11. We spent the whole day on December 10th seeing the sights in D.C.
