Ramona Overlook

April 10, 2003. One of my favorite places to hike is the Iron Mountain area of Poway. The trails are nice and not usually crowded. You can hike to the top of Iron Mountain for spectacular views or you can take the Ellie Lane loop trail which leads to the Ramona Overlook, which is where I went today. It's called the Ramona Overlook because it overlooks the town of Ramona!

Here are some photos of today's journey.

L to R: Iron Mountain from near the trailhead at Poway Road; Yellow flowers and a view looking north from the trail; Iron Mountain taken from Ramona Overlook. You can see part of the trail in the middle distance.

L to R: As I was leaving the Ramona Overlook, a bunch of old retired guys were heading up. This is the most people I've ever seen at the Ramona Overlook. I don't go there on weekends. The top of the hill in the middle photo is the Ramona Overlook. If you look real hard, you can see the old guys up there. On the right is a plant called "Out Lord's Candle". I don't know why. It doesn't look like would burn very well. It's some variety of yucca, I think.

L to R: The trail heading toward Poway Road; Another view of Iron Mountain; A trail sign. Good thing I knew where I was going.
