Chargers blast the Vikings in the latest edition of the Doug Flutie Show!

The Chargers and Doug Flutie came out on fire and won their second game of the season yesterday, November 9, 2003, in front of a hometown crowd of 64,000 people. Included in the throng of happy fans were a couple hundred Hunsaker and Associates employees from the Irvine and San Diego offices.

Also included were a couple former H&A employees, veterans of both offices, ME and LORRI! Feeling lucky to be invited to be part of the fun, we felt like it would be a good opportunity to revive an old tradition. Yup, I set up the old martini bar and provided the "breakfast beverage of champions" to many a happy tailgater.

Since I was busy being bar meister, Lorri was assigned photo duty, so we don't have too many. Here they are:

Here I am warming up. You don't want to just start a-shaking without a proper warm-up. You could pull a shaker muscle and have to drink stirred (not shaken) martinis for the rest of the day.

This is another early shot of me as I carefully arrange the various ingredients and implements of martini making.

The infamous Fred Namkervis with Kim Hunsaker, Lynn Showell, me and Jeff "Snake" Stablein in two different poses. Notice Kim in the photo on the right. She seems OK there, doesn't she? Later we learned that she broke one of the cardinal rules of martini drinking: unless you are a seasoned professional (like me) never drink three adult-sized martinis before lunch.

Dick Hunsaker, grand founder and head honcho in Irvine is on the left and Dave Hammer, grand vodka martini drinker and head honcho in San Diego is on the right. On the other right and slightly shorter is Dave's son Nick. Nick did not have any martinis that we know of.

This fearsome looking duo is Snake and Emil Verban, otherwise known as the Stablein brothers, Jeff and Marty. They look like they were having fun, don't they?

Glenn Bob Showell is shown here enjoying a Tanqueray with olive while Lorri appears to be sipping some champagne.

Every person in this photo could tell you that the first "Martini and Steak Tailgate Breakfast Extravaganza" occurred sometime in the late 1970's in the parking lot of Anaheim Stadium before a Rams game.

This is Regina Hunsaker sitting in the Sportsmobile and eating her tailgate fare.

Doug Staley, Jeff & Marty Stablein, Bruce Hunsaker, and Jack Willis (kneeling) pose for a portrait. Who is that short kid with the KC hat?

Well that's all we got. Later.
