Update: April 19, 2004.
OK, Ok, OK, time to catch up a little. Lorri and I flew to Williamsburg, VA, (actually we flew to Richmond, VA, and rented a car and drove to Williamsburg) on March 9, 2004. There we spent three glorious weeks at Chez Bob, the house that we and my brother Bob are buying and fixing up in "the Burg".

That is my brother Bob, sometimes known as "Hobble", on the left and me on the right. As you can see, he is many years my senior. Ha! Just kidding! He's a year younger. He is employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (CW) and manages the book store at the Visitor Center. Not familiar with CW? Visit www.cwf.org to learn more. It's a pretty cool place, especially in winter. In the summer it's pretty hot.
Here is another shot of us in the kitchen and in the middle, a shot of Chez Bob itself. On the right is the back yard. The house sits on four tenths of an acre. The house needs a little work both inside and out. The work on the inside (new bathrooms, central heat and air, new windows) started today, April 19th. The work on the outside hasn't started yet.
Here is Bob happily diving into a box of Krispy Kremes with some beer on the side. Health food.
On Wednesday we went to Williamsburg Winery which is about a mile from the house. There you can sample their fine wines and even buy some of them if you want to pay more than you would in the local grocery stores. That's Lorri and Bob posing in front of some wine.

This is the Governor's Palace at CW. If you can figure out the right sort of ticket to buy at the Visitors Center, you can tour it with costumed interpreters as your guides
Speaking of which, there are a couple costumed interpreters on the left. In the middle, Peyton Randolph (no relation to Peyton Manning) and his lovely wife receive Lord and Lady Dunmore and family and welcome the Lady and children to Williamsburg after and arduous trip from England. Of course these are costumed interpreters, but this is an example of the kinds of things that happen in CW. On the right is a shot of the Capitol Building.
Williamsburg is located on sort of a peninsula with the James River on the South and the York River to the north. Just south of Williamsburg along the James River lies Jamestown National Historic Site (http://www.nps.gov/colo/home.htm) the location of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America. Everyone knows about this because of Pocahontas saving Captain John Smith from certain death somehow or other. Anyway, the above photo shows Lorri and Pocahontas posing in front of P's wigwam. Ha! Just kidding. The tent covers and protects an archeological dig.
More Jamestown: Bob & Jack & Capt. Smith, the ruins of the oldest church built by starving Englishmen in North America. Lorri and Bob in front of some foundations. It was raining and windy and cold that day so we went to the gift shop and bought some new beer glasses (they make these things as well as a wide variety of other glassware in Jamestown and call it "Jamestown Glass"!) which we promptly took home and put to good use.
Here we are putting the glasses to good use.
