Off to Kauai!

Up Kahana & Lahaina Ka'anapali & Kapalua Off to Kauai! Tubing The Luau Ziplining Kauai Scenes

Saturday - Off to Kauai

The Hawaiian Airlines "shuttles" between the islands are open seating. Even though they use big old jet airliners, you have to line up and load on and grab the first open seat you see. Above, Dru, Edith and Lorri wait to board the plane for Kauai.

Tom and Kelly met us at Lihu'e (pronounced "lahooey") Airport on Kauai with fresh flower leis and plenty of aloha spirit. After Bloody Marys at the Marriott and a nice lunch at JJ's, we headed north toward their house in Princeville with a stop at the site of their new, under construction homestead, somewhere on the northeast coast.

The above were all taken at Tom & Kelly's future home site - great location, great view. Someday there will be a beautiful house where the pile of dirt is now!

On our way back from the fish market in Hanalei, we stopped at the scenic overlook and snapped a couple photos of the Hanalei River and the green valley below. The whole north coast of Kauai is green and lush and tropical, like I always thought Hawaii would be.

Later we walked from T&K's house through the jungle down to the beach at the Princeville Resort Hotel. On the right is the view across Hanalei Bay toward Bali Hai.

Sunday: Lunch, Beach

Lunch at the Hanalei Bay Resort. We walked there from T&K's.

Then it was off to the beach, to Anini Beach Park and T&K's own favorite private spot. You can see their parking spot in the photo on the upper right.

Here we are back at the McGannon's Princeville retreat. Dru & Edith in the courtyard, a group in the kitchen area, Jack resting up, Dru, Edith and Lorri on the lanai.
