Excursion to Upstate Pennsylvania

September 29 to October 2, 2003

After recovering from the Minnesota weekend, we headed north from State College past Lock Haven and Williamsport (home of the Little League World Series) and up toward the New York border and scenic Cowanesque Lake, just west of Lawrenceville, PA, the home of that rowdy rascal, renowned sage, real estate mogul and high-tech entrepreneur, Dick Anthony and his lovely wife, Diana.

Oh yeah, he's a gentleman farmer too. Here is his tractor with the Lake in the background.

Here is the back of the Anthony chalet with Lorri on the porch. The house is well-equipped with a pool table, a bar, a dart board and some furniture and stuff.

The Sage and me.

On the road to visit the "Little Grand Canyon" or the "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania"

Shots from the Grand Canyon

Once again we had a great visit with Dick and Di. After leaving the Little Grand Canyon they escorted us as far as the little town of Galeton where they turned around and headed back to the north country and we headed south into the dark and mysterious Susquehannock State Forest and Ole Bull State Park.

Why, who or what was Ole Bull you ask? Why the famous Norwegian Violinist of course! Read the sign if you need to know more.

Ole Bull wasn't exactly crowded. In fact we had the whole north half of the campground to ourselves.

Some shots of Kettle Creek at Ole Bull.

Another creek at Ole Bull.

It was a beautiful morning on Thursday as we left Ole Bull and made our way back to State College for the big October 4th weekend and the Penn State-Wisconsin game.
