Encinitas Beach - Swami's to Moonlight
It was a nice afternoon and there was a low tide at around 2:00 so we went for walk on the beach. We started at Swami's which is the famous surf spot at the south end of the village and walked north to Moonlight Beach at the north end of the village, about a mile on the beach and a nice two mile round trip from our house.
A lot of sand has been washed away by the recent big waves and high tides. The big waves have been generated by a series of storms in the Pacific. Many reefs and rocks are exposed now that ordinarily would be covered with sand.
Lots of mussels!
Lot's of cobblestones on the beach. They say much of the sand will wash back in during the spring and summer. I hope so.
I finally got a decent photo of the elusive but very handsome Sand Stork.
This is Moonlight Beach looking north.
Looking from the middle of the beach toward the main lifeguard stand and looking northwest across Moonlight Beach. Note the guard stands gathered for the winter.
I spotted this nice little curbside garden along C Street on the way home.
