Geek Cache Photos

target="_blank"This cache was hard for me to find because I went to the place on the trail which my GPS told me was the closest point to the cache. There are some rocks right there with some pretty good hiding spots and I figured somebody on skis wasn't going to go too far from the trail. Also there is a very thick tree canopy in the area so I wasn't real confident that my GPS location was all that accurate.

These are the rocks off the trail at that spot. Don't go there even though you can get to the cache spot that way. There is a lot of poison oak all over the place.

The Chimney Flats Trail goes across the foreground of this photo. The cache is under the trees about 40 yards straight ahead (looking at the photo) through the ferns and about 20 yards to the right into the trees.

When you get under the trees, look for this spot. You are very close.

Look around at the hollow logs until you find one that looks like this.

As it turned out, the spot my GPS kept zeroing in on was only a few feet from the cache but I had it in my head that the cache must be closer to the trail hidden in those poison oak infested rocks. Anyway, I was happy to find it. I hiked back to the camp ground and drank four beers to celebrate.
