Spring

Low-tide walks on the beach are a year-round treat, pandemic or not.

It always helps to know you have a good supply of Irish Whiskey on hand, just in case...

In the early days of the lockdown there were lines to get in grocery stores. This is the Ralph's at Encinitas Blvd and El Camino

Binge-watching TV became an important diversion. This is Mike from Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad. He was in that too - one of my favorite characters

One of our first Zoom happy hours with Encinitas Yacht Clubbers plus Deb and Mike

Man does not live by Irish Whiskey alone. Sometimes one requires a Tanqueray martini.

Lavender? We had a fair amount of rain last winter so things were blooming nicely in the Spring

The world must be coming to an end in SoCal. No swimming or surfing? What will we do?

D Street, Encinitas. No Swimming? No Surfing? Nobody on the beach. Insert sad face here.

A late rain storm turns our bocce court into a big puddle.

Now that's a drink!

Another Zoom happy hour.

Of course we started to pay more attention to our diet. Beef stew and homemade baguettes anyone?

Our local HOA tennis court was closed for a while. Ridiculous.

John Prine died.

More Zooming!

This is my Zoom setup in my home office

I had more time to get into my painting. Never tried painting flowers before.

My artwork getting ready to move to its new home. Sold!

Empty Streets in the early days.

Empty Moonlight Beach

More homemade bread!

A guy around the corner from us had all his gigs cancelled so he sets up in his driveway most Fridays and plays for the neighbors who dutifully sit about 20 feet apart

Lorri at low tide

Eventually the beaches opened up but only for certain activities.

No standing, no stopping, no gnashing of teeth.

Iris this was all over.

Solana Beach public access, south of Fletcher Cove

Our yard is very private, quiet and comfortable. If I were a meditator, I would meditate there.

Ready to play bocce but no bocce players.

a photo with me taking a photo

Pan-seared scallops with linguine and sautéed spinach. Doesn't get much better

First time I've painted a lamp shade. I've worn them but not painted them.

We spent many a cocktail hour followed by dinners al fresco.

Grilled pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes, spinach and our friend Kelly's home made red pepper sauce.

Chicken pot pies

These are those little clams we used to call (probably incorrectly) coquinas. They're about a half-inch land and very colorful.

La Paloma, The Dove, will fly again. Not yet.

A pandemic can't stop things from blooming in front of this Old Encinitas bungalow.

The boat houses have undergone some restoration and the property has too. That retaining wall is new.

The beach is open! Just don't sit on it or hang out with your friends!

And wear your mask!

a bird and a board

Electric bikes are now ubiquitous - mom's with two kids in back, 14-year-olds with surfboards zipping around ignoring all traffic laws, fat-tired cruisers speeding on the beach, etc.

I've never seen a live person wearing this tee shirt. This mannequin has no hands to wash.
