My old team, the Philadelphia Phillies were visiting my current team, the San Diego Padres, for an afternoon game to close out a three-game series. My old team won the first two, but I was hoping for a Padre victory to avoid the sweep.

We parked at the Encinitas Transit Station after calling for our permit and jumped on the southbound Coaster

It was already chock-full of Padre fans and quite a few Philly fans too!

Here is my new Padre hat, a Christmas gift from my buddy Ed.

We transferred to the Green line trolley, which as you can see, is actually red, and walked to the Gaslamp Marriott where we had reserved a room for the night.

We got there shortly after noon and luckily our room was ready. This is the view from our room, 901

You're looking at a small segment of center field. The three guys in the upper left: Jake Cronenworth (not playing due to injury), Fernando Tatis Jr (no homers yet this season), and Manny Machado (batting around 150)

Looking back at our hotel.

Play Ball! One of the few non-sellout crowds of the season

These photos make it look like we were far from the field, but they were actually pretty good seats.

Even though the Pads outhit the Phils 7-6 they lost due to going 0-7 with runners in scoring position. I forgot to take a photo of the main scoreboard showing the final so I snapped this on the way out.

After a quick stop back at the hotel, we headed out on the town.

The game was lost but the fun continued. Here we are at the bar at the Water Grill.

We stopped at Seville and then walked to this place, the Cowboy Star Steak House and Meat Shop.

It's a little bit of a walk to its East Village location, but worth it.

We split the steak frite and it was excellent!

Somehow we made it back to the hotel. Thursday morning we had a nice breakfast at 6th and G Breakfast company which is conveniently located and 6th and G!

This is my breakfast sandwich - sausage and scrambled eggs on a branded brioche bun - pretty good!
Other than the disappointing outcome of the game, it was a great little getaway!
