Cleveland, August 7th to 11th!

It was a last-minute whirlwind visit to join the McHugh clan, daughter Debbie, granddaughter Mal, and the kids, Liv and Sloane.

Cleveland in August is probably not very high on anyone's list of desirable vacation destinations, but we had an opportunity to get together with family that we had not seen in quite a while (except for Deb and the girls)

Here we are at the airport at Tony Hawk's bar killing time because our flight was delayed by an hour.

But it finally showed up and before long, we were on our way

Here we are in our extra legroom seats on our way to Chicago Midway, where we thought we would have less than a half hour to catch our connecting flight.

As it turned out, that flight was also delayed an hour, so we had enough time to get some popcorn!

Garrett Popcorn - a Chicago Tradition! It's good!

View from our hotel room in the morning. Welcome to Cleveland!

We finally got to our hotel at just before 10 PM. We had a glass of wine and some leftover SW Airline snacks for dinner. We were exhausted and sleeping soundly when, at 2:00 AM the hotel fire alarm went off, filling our room and the halls with flashing lights and loud noise. It was a false alarm, thankfully, but it took us a while to get back to sleep.

The next morning we picked up our rental car and headed straight to downtown Cleveland.

I think the Cleveland Browns play here.

And right down the street is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Lorri walking to the HoF. We had a little time to kill and we had never been to the Hall, even though we had been to Cleveland many, many, times.

Paul McCartney and Wings was the featured artist this month and I guess the rest of the Beatles jumped on the bandwagon (ha ha)

Inside

Outside, beautiful Lake Erie!

Paul wore this suit and played this bass

This proves it!

Farewell Paul and Linda, we're off to Chagrin Falls to see the family!

We checked in at the Inn of Chagrin, a small (15 rooms or so) hotel in the middle of town.

We stayed in the "King Jacuzzi Suite", the only room left when we made our last-minute reservation

It was a nice room. I should have remembered to take photos before we threw our stuff all over the place.

It had a nice sitting area. No coffee maker :-(

The Jacuzzi tub! We didn't Jacuzzi.

At Kevin and Mary's house

Here are some of the family. That's Lauren on the left, the one that looks like she's having the time of her life!

After the bash at Kevin and Mary's place we went back to the hotel and did a little exploring of "downtown" Chagrin Falls.

It's a very picturesque little mid-west town.

This is looking down at the falls and across toward the restaurant where we had dinner with Kevin and Mary on Monday night, 17 River Grill.

These are some falls but not THE falls.

And finally, my dinner of rainbow trout at River 17 Monday night.

It was a great little getaway and especially great to see all the cousins, nieces, nephews, and assorted other relatives, and re-connect. I hope we can do it again soon!
