Day 17, Sunday, June 21, 400 miles, 7783 total

It was still cloudy and threatening as we made our way south through
Yellowstone so we didn't do much exploring.

Lewis Lake and Moose Falls were near the southerly boundary of
Yellowstone.

Heading south out of Yellowstone, the first thing you run into is Grand
Teton National Park

I'm not sure but I think "teton" means something in French that has to
do with a certain part of the female anatomy. If so I just want to say
that the teton parts of the Grand Tetons were mostly obscured by clouds
as we drove along, even though the weather was starting to clear.

The Snake River flows along the eastern side of the Grande Tetons.

We stopped for lunch in Jackson, WY, a nice little upscale cowboy/ski
town.

From Jackson we cut across another pass and got on I-15 in Idaho. The
trip from here on would be on I-15 all the way to Escondido. We stopped
for the night in Ogden, Utah, at a Best Western. It was good to spread
out after seven nights sleeping in the van.

I-15 is not a real exciting route to take but we were ready to get home
and there was no better way. Parts of I-15 have an 80-mile-an-hour speed
limit. The van really can't take advantage of that. It can easily go 80
but it seems happier at 70 to 75 MPH.
Day 18, Monday, June 22, 399 miles, 8182 total
We flew down I-15 to Mesquite, NV, where we stayed at the Luxurious (not
really) Virgin River Resort. We played a little video poker but
that's about it.
Day 19, Tuesday, June 23, 428 miles, 8610 total

Home at last! 4368 miles on the return trip from Williamsburg compared
to 3450 on the way out. On this last day we drove past Las Vegas,
sitting in traffic for an hour, then past Whisky Pete's and into
California. We arrived in Encinitas mid-afternoon. It was 72 degrees,
bright and sunny! It was a great trip and it was good to get back!
For you map geeks, this is where we went!
