Grand Canyon

Home Las Vegas Grand Canyon Sedona & More

Las Vegas to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is about a 280 mile drive. The contrast of the bright lights and noisy casinos of The Strip to the peaceful grandeur of Grand Canyon  is incredible. This was our first visit there and I learned that you have to go there; no photos can capture the feel of Grand Canyon. I took some anyway.

L to R: Part of the GC; part of the GC with Lorri & Jack; part of the CG with tiny people out on the ledge in the foreground.

L to R: Another part of the GC; more tiny people in the GC; Lorri and the GC.

L to R: Switchbacks along the Bright Angel Trail where I hiked; if you look closely at this one you can see the Bright Angel trail and the "3-mile house", a restroom three miles down from the top, the trees way down below are near Indian Garden where I turned around and hiked back up, way out there is Plateau Point, another 1-1/2 miles from Indian Garden. On the right is a mule pack train on the trail above me.

L to R: Looking up toward the Bright Angel Trailhead; Mules resting at Indian Garden; Looking back up the trail.

The yellow line shows my GPS track down Bright Angel Trail. The profile at the bottom shows that the hike down to Indian garden was about 4 miles long and 3000 feet down.
