Tailgate Part 2

The Tuesday game started at 1:00 against the California Anaheim
Angels of Los Angeles, or whatever they are this year, so we had to get
up early to allow for plenty of "practice". Here you see Tommy
practicing making Bloody Mary's.
Pedro's Interment

Pedro the cactus antenna man has sadly met his demise. He had been
with us through rain, snow, ice, bugs, dirt, dust and whatever else
antenna men are exposed to, for over ten years (our time) and over 100
years (antenna man time)

Each 1,000 miles on a vehicle's antenna is the equivalent of one year
in the life of an antenna man. Pedro had seen more than 103,000 miles.
He lost his hat somewhere in Texas. He lost his arm, well, he didn't
really "lose" it, we had to amputate it somewhere near Bemidji because
it was just hanging by a thread.

A grave was dug, a few words were spoken in honor of Pedro and he was
laid to a well-deserved rest just below the east end of the horseshoe
pit near the Peoria Sports Complex parking lot. A simple wood cross
marks the spot. RIP Pedro.
On a happier note, Pedro's duties have been taken over by "Padre", a
new, young, green cactus man. There he is getting ready for his rookie
season. He has some big shoes to fill but we have all the confidence in
the world him.

Final score, 4-3 Angels.

"POLICE DO NOT CROSS" -
oh yeah?
We had a great time in Peoria and a great time with
Tom and Patty! I always thought Spring Training was about baseball!
Imagine that. |
