Taking a break from the wild winter back east, my daughter Deborah spent
a long weekend with us at the end of January.

Here we are out for a walk along the bluff in Encinitas.

These were taken at the Meditation Garden at the Self Realization
Fellowship, more commonly know as Swami's.

It is the middle of winter but there were still a few blooms in the
garden, not to mention a few koi in the ponds.
...and birds of paradise out and about.
Next stop was the Lumberyard Bar and Grill and then across the tracks
and on back home.
Carlsbad

On Sunday, I think it was, we drove up to Carlsbad Village.

We walked around for a while, had lunch at Hennessey's, did not have
donuts or a fat tire or even rent bikes.
Back on the beach in Encinitas
Much of the sand has been washed out to sea by the recent spate of
storms. This is what is left.

Here Deb and Lorri inspect the tide line for hidden treasures.

Debbie found one in the form of a rock shaped like a fat seal or
manatee or sea lion or something.

Sea life: surfers, sea gull and a sea anemone.

Also, the Farmers Insurance blimp on the left. They were sponsoring
the golf tournament on down the beach at Torrey Pines.

The girls and a sea gull scoring a mussel or some other delectable
morsel

We had a great weekend with Deb even though we didn't really get out
and do a whole lot. That was Debbie's idea, to just sort of hang out.
She missed the kids and Mike so badly that she would have felt guilty if
she had too much fun. Ha, ha, ha, ha, etc.
