Lincoln to St. Louis

Leaving Lincoln Sunday afternoon, we headed toward Lorri's parents house in Crestwood, MO, near St Louis.

We passed miles and miles of farmland that looked sort of like this.

We spent the night at Wallace State Park, about 30 miles east of St. Joseph. Wallace SP has the most unusual picnic tables we've seen. Here is what they look like.

The tables have an upper level and a roof!

The highlight on the road to St. Louis was our stop in Hannibal, MO, the boyhood home of Mark Twain.

Here is his house and the fence that Tom Sawyer whitewashed. Well, maybe he only whitewashed the fence. On the right is Becky Thatcher's house. Huck Finn's house no longer exists, in case you were wondering.

Here I am in front of the Mississippi River and a Mark Twain sign.

A river boat.

A statue of Mark at the Mark Twain Museum.

Mark Twain himself with Lorri.

After we left Hannibal we drove south on the "Great River Road" along the Mississippi.

A couple photos of Big Muddy.

Finally we arrived at Lorri's parent's house. Here is their house and them.
